Web Page Creation

We have learned so much from this project, and we wanted to share some of that with you.  This page shows some of the things we did to create the Primary Plants Web Page.

Our Talking Book

We each took the digital camera outside and took a picture of the plant we had chosen to write about for our talking book.  We then used the Alpha Smarts to type information about our plant.  After we wrote all of our information, we held the Alpha Smart in front of the computer and hit the send button.  All of a sudden the information went from the Alpha Smart to the computer.  The last thing we did was use a microphone to record our voice reading what we had written about our plant.  Our teacher used all of this information to make the talking book.  Here are some pictures of us working.  Click on the picture to enlarge.

Plant Parts

We each drew a picture of a plant and labeled the parts using Kid Pix.  After we all finished, we voted on the best picture to use for the Plant Parts page.  All of the pictures are on the Primary Plants homepage.  Our teacher made it to where you can click on the part of the plant, and it will take you to another page that tells you the function of that plant.

Web Page Resources

Our teacher found several websites on plants and gave us those addresses.  We also found some of our own sites.  We reviewed the sites and wrote about these sites using Microsoft Word with our partner.  Our teacher then copied this information onto our website and hyper linked it to take you to these sites.  Here are some pictures of us working.  Click on the photograph to enlarge.

Plant Growth

One of our parents brought us seeds, pots, and soil to plant.  We each planted 5 seeds, and we have been able to watch them grow.  Some have done really well and other's haven't.  We took pictures with the digital camera of our plants each day as they grew and recorded their growth.

Plant Life Cycle

We used a program called Kidspiration to draw the lifecycle of a plant.  Our teacher scanned the pictures into the computer, so that we could use them with this program.  We used the Smart Board to do this project.  We could push on the board with our finger and drag the pictures to where we wanted them.  We then used this button that said link on it to draw an arrow from one picture to another.  We saved it, and our teacher put the picture on our web page.
