What are Family Resource Centers?
    Family Resource Centers  were developed as a part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act.  The Centers are designed to enhance a student's ability to succeed in school by assisting their families with access to community programs and/or information about these programs.

Who can access the Family Resource Center?
  The FRC is open to everyone within the Picadome school community.  It is open to all students and families regardless of family income.

When is the Family Resource Center open?
    The Picadome FRC is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. or by appointment.  The Center is also open during winter and summer breaks.

What types of services does the Family Resource Center provide?   
Child Care Referrals: Preschool, after-school, and summer program referrals.
Parent and Child University: In partnership Parent's Place , a parenting skills program for parents while children explore the Lexington Children's Museum.
Parent Lending Library: Book, videos for parents on topics related to their children.
Dental Clinic: In partnership with the Family Care Center, students are transported to monthly dental appointments.
Limited Assistance with basic needs and Community Referrals - Food, school supplies, eye exams, physical and mental health needs, GED programs, holiday programs and crises needs.
Recreation and social activities for students and their families: Drama Club, Family Literacy Night, Math Mania, etc.

The Family Resource Center is always in need of the following items for students.

  • Underwear (new)

  • Socks (new)

  • School supplies

  • Hats & gloves

  • Jackets & coats

  • Books

  • Jean and sweat pants

  • Backpacks

  • Laundry detergent

  • Belts

  • Kids' clothing in good condition
