Henry Clay’s
Room
By Dylan
Do
you know whose bedroom this is? Long ago this bedroom was where Henry
Clay and, his wife, Lucretia Hart slept in this canopy bed. Many of the
objects in this room are original to house and belonged to Henry Clay.
In the winter you can pull the curtains down so you could keep warm. The
bed made out of ash wood. When Henry Clay lived here, there were many
ash trees around his house. That is why Henry Clay named his estate "Ash
Land."
P.s If you ever want to learn about Henry Clay or see what he had in his
house just go to Ashland in Kentucky
The portrait above the bed is Lucretia Hart Clay. When Henry Clay was a
live, people would have someone draw or paint their portrait. These
portraits help us know what the person looked like.
There is a mirror in every room because when the candles were lit the
light would reflect off the mirror causing there to be more lit.
