A Tight Fit

By Emma

Would you like to faint every time you went to a party? Women in Henry Clays time would faint almost every time they went to a party! Women would wear dresses that would come down to their ankles. When they went to a party they would tie a corset around their waist. A corset is a piece of fabric that they would tie around their waist so tight that they’d faint. They did this to make them look skinny.

Today we don’t have corsets, but we have belts, spanks, and support hoses. They don’t make ladies faint, but they make ladies stomach’s look skinny. I’m glad that women today don’t wear corsets!
