SBDM
Minutes 10/24/02 The
Picadome School Community is committed to all students attaining the highest
levels of academic achievement and responsible citizenship through equitable
opportunities in becoming lifelong learners.
The
meeting was called to order at 3:25 by Darla Simms, chair. Members present
are: teachers Tammy Johnson and Juaacklyn Cunningham; parents Tammy Lynch
and Jeff Mefford. Absent: teacher Bill McMakin. The
minutes of the September 12, 2002 meeting were approved with two
corrections.

Budget Council
reviewed the SCIF budget run on 10/10/02 for the originally
scheduled meeting.

Information Items
A.
Update on staffing: Jennifer
Polnisch has been hired as the new Early Start teacher to replace Amy
McBroom; Special Education Para Professional: Tanya Washington;
Teresa Littrell replacing
Angela Binning who took an ESL district position. Melissa Calia accepted the
additional .2 to help in the cafeteria; council agreed by consensus to
change her job classification to .8 primary position.

Ms. Simms reported that staff is
still working on the disaggregated data from our district mandated
assessment (SRI and STAR math.) She asked council’s permission to report
at the November 14, 2002 meeting. IV.
Work Session
A.KCCT Data
Ms. Simms gave council members a copy of the Kentucky Core Content
Test Spring 2002 Performance Report and reviewed the results. Picadome met
our accountability index goal for the biennium. (See attached) Because we met our goal, we will be receiving rewards money. Council will
make the decision on how the money will be distributed. Ms. Simms asked
Council to study this data so we can discuss it further at the November 14
meeting. At that time we will identify the achievement gap which we need to
address this year for Senate Bill 168. Staff will review all data at
November 5 Professional Development.
B. Hiring Policy
Tammy Johnson typed the hiring policy. Darla Simms took it back to
the Budget & personnel committee.
C.
SB 168 – Darla Simms reviewed the
timeline and implication for SBDM. She will invite Vince Mattox to our
November 14 meeting for a more in depth look at Senate Bill 168. V.
Extended School Services
A.
Brenda Smith reported there were 53
referrals with 38 students attending. She also reported that there was no
bus service due to budget cuts. Darla
Simms questioned if the lack of bus service affects those who were referred
but not attending. Juaacklyn Cunningham questioned 1st & 2nd
grade not being included.
B.
Darla Simms wants to see 2nd
grade data to determine the number who would eligible.
C.
Council accepted the ESS plan with
changes for spring as needs warrant.
D.
Darla Simms suggested pre and post
tests and attendance be reported to council to determine the success of the
program.
E.
Council requested a report at end
of ESS (right before Thanksgiving.) This should include the attendance per
grade level and the budget. Meeting
