Budget:

Council discussed SCIF summer purchases. Quickwords were ordered for multi--age primary.  Fourth grade thesauri were passed to 3rd grade and additional developmentally appropriate thesauri were purchased for 4th grade.  One hundred twenty-five dictionaries were purchased for 3rd grade classrooms to complete their sets due to increased enrollment.  Math books were purchased for kindergarten, 3rd grade, and 5th grade.  Calculators will be purchased this fall. Time for Kids will be purchased in August 2006 and leveled texts and science and social studies texts for 3rd and 4th grades will be purchased as needed.  History Alive will be purchased for 5th grade.  Next year the SCIF deadline will be February 1.

Current Enrollment:

81 kindergarten (94 maximum)

103 1st

110 2nd

120 3rd

89 4th

Because Picadome enrollment has exceeded our building capacity and due to the district Continuation Plan, we will only be able to enroll a certain number of students at each level.  Students currently enrolled will be able to continue at Picadome except those who moved out of area during the school year.  Currently we have a waiting list for 1st -5th grades.

Policy revision of dress code:

Add “any clothing representing or implying illegal activities for minors including drugs, alcohol, sex, gang, or violence.”  Move the bottom two sentences up to the top about enforcement of policy and add “monitored by staff” and “enhance learning environment.”

Hiring and consultation policy was revised.

Update on staffing:

Beth Heinman who taught at Picadome last year will be returning to fill a vacant1 / 2 multi-age classroom position. We are currently interviewing for a 4th grade, 5th grade, and a .5 intermediate open response coach, as well as a kindergarten assistant and special education paraeducator.

Council agreed by consensus to use supplemental duty money to increase from .7 to .8 for library media clerk position/office position when these funds become available.  ($809)

Consultation occurred for the filling of the .5 PSA vacancy.  Jerry Cooper will be recommended to the superintendent’s designee for the position.

Language Arts textbook purchasing plan

The textbook allocation for 2006-2007 is $40,228.99.  We will make these purchases by combining funds from old textbook money and the 2006-2007 textbook allotment.

Plan approved with a few revisions. (See attached.)
