Weather 101

On Wednesday, May 21st  Bill Meck, chief meteorologist from LEX 18, brought Weather 101 to some of the third and fourth graders at Picadome. The students from Mr. McMakin's, Mrs. Wells', and Mrs. Price's classes enjoyed an informative session with Mr. Meck. They learned many interesting facts about the water cycle, lightening, wind, hurricanes and tornadoes. One student thought it was quite interesting to know that there are 100 bolts of lightening that strike somewhere in the world every second. Mr. Meck also told the students that normally there were only 1000 tornadoes a year, but that this year we have already had 400! The students were quite impressed with Mr. Meck's presentation and definitely learned many new facts about weather! Thank you so much for coming to visit!
